Chipwiches and Why You Shouldn’t Let Nostalgia Get in the Way of Your House Hunt
Hi! I’m Elizabeth Alessio. I’m a Realtor on Long Island and I love what I do – but I also love good food and a good drink, and that’s why I am bringing the two together, recipes and real estate from my kitchen! Today I am making Ice Cream Sandwiches and sharing my take on choosing a home style that fits for you. This recipe requires no baking, which I why I love it!
Ingredients:
Start with cookies ! any kind you like, just be sure they are larger.
Your favorite ice cream, softened
Toppings!
Here’s How to Do It:
Lay a cookie on it’s back.
Take a scoop of softened ice cream, place it on the cookie.
Take another cookie, put on top of the ice cream and smoosh.
Use a knife and smooth out the edges.
Roll the sandwich in the topping.
Wrap in plastic and place in the fridge until ready to eat.
Classic! And you can watch the video here!
Why You Shouldn’t Let Nostalgia Get in the Way of Your House Hunt
This happens to me all the time: when I go to the ice cream shop, I get so excited reading all of the names of the flavors being offered. But when it’s time to order, I always go with something that I know that I’ll like: chocolate, peanut butter, or coffee topped with rainbow sprinkles. However, when I do try something different, I’m always surprised by how much I enjoy it. Going outside of my comfort zone gives me the opportunity to find something new and amazing!
Choosing an ice cream flavor is a lot like searching for a new home. With all of the different home styles out there to choose from: colonial, hi-ranch, ranch, split, cape and so on, we tend to know what we like before searching because of what is familiar. Home styles are nostalgic and more often than not, my clients will walk into a home and say something like, “oh, this is just like my aunt’s house. I like this style”.
But remember, the beauty of owning a home is making it your own, so don’t be afraid to try something new. It just may be the better flavor!
