Centerport.
Centerport received its name due to its location between Huntington’s eastern and western shores. The town has exquisite beaches and really stands out from all of the other shores on Long Island. Antique shops, fine restaurants, and historical museums line the streets of this quaint town. Its serene beauty makes Centerport an attraction itself.
One of the more popular museums, the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium, is located in a Spanish/Moroccan mansion, formerly home to William K. Vanderbilt II. The museum has many exhibits that include specimens of marine science, Egyptian mummies, dinosaur fossils and laser shows at the planetarium. Everyone will enjoy exploring this museum complex.
