Greenlawn.

Originally called Old Fields, Greenlawn was one of the first purchases in the town of Huntington in 1653. The village was originally used as a pasture, but by 1780, prominent families moved into the are causing the area to develop from farm land into housing complexes.

Commercial buildings started to develop around 1860 in the area. A general store was built around that time and still stands today on Broadway. Hotels started to expand the are and after the Long Island Railroad appeared in the hamlet in 1868, a station was built. With the arrival of the railroad, came an assortment of names for the village.

Today, Greenlawn is known for its vibrant community and rich history. Residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of local attractions, including the Harborfields Library, which serves as a hub for education and community events. Another historic site is the Gardiner Farm, where you can explore the area's agricultural roots.
